Passed Out Cold!

Has anyone ever seen their kids pass out, for whatever reason?

Well Brighton is a champion at it. She will get so upset, usually from being injured, that she will do the before-the-cry-pause too long and knock herself out cold.

I have seen her do it about four times. I told my sister-in-law while she was visiting and she actually got to experience it a little bit too. Well, today was Chad's first experience.

Brighton was pushing a stroller that was too tall for her and it knocked her backwards onto her head. BAM! Serious knock. So she rolls over and starts walking to Chad. As she is walking to him she is holding her breathe preparing to scream....and she keeps holding...and holding.....and holding....and her knees start to buckle. I yelled, "GRAB HER! She's gonna pass out!" (this seems like it took a long time, but it was all very quick). He scoops her up before she falls and she still is NOT breathing. So he is patting her on the back yelling, "BREATHE, BREATHE!" and....

BAM...she's out cold! Passed out in Chad's arms! She was only out for about 10 seconds, but it feels a lot longer. She woke up and basically forgot what all the commotion was about. She definitely was out of sorts for a while, though. Even though I knew it was coming, it still shook me up. I was so weird about it that I was crying and laughing at the same time. It is just such a weird thing that she does to herself.

She is our first and only kid to ever have this problem, and it is not too frequent, but sometimes. She mostly almost passes out. She has only fully passed out two of the SIX times that she has come close. But her eyes roll back and her lips turn blue, and everything else. It's pretty freaky. Now that I know she does it I am a little more prepared. It happens really quickly too. And she doesn't actually do it on purpose. It's just weird. Anyone else ever hear of kids doing that? or how to stop it?

New Jammies...

Maybe not new, but improved! It's been too hot for the traditional footy and think pajamas. So the kids got to raid my T-SHIRT drawer. Don't they just look so cute?

Fourth of July Festivities

What a busy week and weekend for us! I love that there is so much going on near us that we can spend so much time doing it!

First we woke up BRIGHT and EARLY at 6am on Thursday morning to go see the Hot Air Balloons blow up and fly away. Well they didn't fly away, but the did blow up. The kids got some free frisbees and have LOVED throwing those around for the last few days. It was pretty cool to see all those hot air Balloons. All the kids just stopped and stared almost the entire time. It was cute to watch them.

Then on Friday night we went to the Freedom Festival. We were too late to get all of the free stuff, but there was still plenty of fun free stuff. We saw a reptile show, bounced in Huge Bouncers, listened to Jericho Road singing. Then when it was getting late Uncle Kyle and Aunt Kelly bought tickets for everyone to go ride some of the fun rides. TOTALLY AWESOME! It was so much fun! Well, I did nothing, but the kids had a blast. This ride below was the only one I took a picture of sadly, I don't know what I was thinking. But they did several other things and had a lot of fun. Broc even jumped off a 10-15 foot ledge onto a big blow up pillow. The video is below. It was a lot of fun, but a very late night.
After staying up late on Friday night we headed out bright and early to the parade and Freedom Run. Chad ran the 10k along with several of our neighbors. I am sad that I couldn't run it, but there's always next year. We had a great spot at the end of the parade route thanks to Chad's friend, Alan. He got there bright and early at 5:30am!!! I got there at about 7:15am with all three kids! That was an ordeal, but I did their hair and stuff at the parade. We also ate pancakes and eggs for breakfast that I had made. I also brought grapes, apple juice, granola bars, fruit cups, etc. So we were well stocked. Last year we sat in the sun the entire time so we were SOO hot! This year we had shade almost the ENTIRE TIME! It was great. We didn't drink any of the water that I had brought.

Here are the many spectators. Of course my family, Chad, myself, and the kids. Then we also had Dave, Karyn, Emily, Alaina, Kelly, Kyle, Alexa, Maya, Alan and his two daughters. While we were there our in-house artist, Emily went to work on my face with the paints I had brought. She did an awesome job if you can see it in the pictures. The kids were done by Chad and I, nothing professional there.

I also brought bubbles and Broc got a picture of a bubble! Pretty cool.

Then we headed home for a much needed nap (I only got 3 1/2 hours of sleep that night)!

After the nap was BBQ and water fun time. We also had cake and presents for Broc for his birthday. Emily and Alaina also celebrated their birthday. The kids also got their faces painted by Emily.

My little puppy dogs. Luckily the paint comes off pretty easily.

Then we headed out front in the shade and cool (FINALLY!) for motorcycle and tractor rides, fireworks, and lots of fun. The kids had a blast, but were done before all the fireworks were all gone. It was kind of funny.
All in all it was a fun night. The only thing was my kids kept asking when we were going to go see the fireworks that were up high in the sky. Not this year kiddo's. I guess we should next year then! Thanks for a great Fourth Family! It was fun!

Just so beautiful!

How could you not love those faces??

I took these in about five minutes on our way out the door to Church. And we were still on time!

Happy Birthday Broc!!

It's that time of the year again. Broc is turning 6! I can't believe it. He will soon be going all day long to first grade and I am not sure how to feel about it! He's growing into such a wonderful and happy boy. He has had a cold/flu this last week so it's been a tough week for him, but otherwise he is wonderful! (I just took this picture yesterday)

6 Things about Broc:
1. Broc has always been known for having a big head. It isn't completely noticable now that his body has somewhat caught up, but it is definitely big. He has to wear bike helmets that are too old for him. His cousin is almost as tall as he is yet he couldn't hardly get her motorcycle helmet on (or off!) yesterday. His head used to tip him over when he was a baby. He just couldn't hold it up!

2. Broc hates getting his hands dirty or food mixing on his plate. He has to have things just right. There was a worm on the sidewalk and he refused to touch it the other day because it was slimy. We aren't really big bug people over here.

3. Broc is incredibly fast and athletic. Chad clocked him the other day at about an 8-9 minute mile on the track. And then he kept running two more laps after that. He loves to run and be outdoors. His new favorite sport is BASEBALL! He just can't get enough of it. I knew Broc was sick this last week when he didn't want to go outside and play at all.

4. Broc is a thrill seeker. He loves roller coasters or jumping off of huge platforms, or ramping his bike over any pile of anything that he can find. Off-roading is totallly his idea of fun. I can't wait to see where this thrill ride will take us!

5. Broc is accident prone. So far in his life he has had 2 staples, 4 stitches, 6 stitches, and a broken arm. I am hoping he will slow down with all major injuries like this, but we'll see. Now that I think about it they usually seem to happen in the winter, so maybe he needs to get his energy out better?!?!

6. Broc is a great big brother. He and Bailey play so well and are really best friends. They rarely ever ask to go play with friends because they have each other. They are hysterical to listen to and watch play. They are so funny. Brighton absolutely LOVES Broc. He's almost the only person who can make her light up when she is grumpy. She loves to tag along with him and he is usually pretty good about letting her. He is really good at figuring out how to deal with how crazy she is and also how crazy Bailey is. It's a good thing he is pretty patient or else he might go nuts. (see video)

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!

In honor of the Fourth of July I have gone all out and had my toes painted. Thanks to our awesome and talented neighbor, Nicole. How cool do those look? My idea for doing red, white and blue was no where near as cool!
(Bailey also got her toes painted and thought she was in Heaven. Such a girly girl!)

Happy Fourth of JULY!!!

Salem Tri

At the end of May we did Chad's first and possibly only triathlon for the year. The economy is taking it's toll on our race count this year.

But it was still a lot of fun.
The race started really later than normal about 9am! So the kids got to sleep in and then play like mad around the course. They really had a lot of fun. They love watching Daddy's races.

Then it was on to the swim. I took a million more pictures, but you get the gist with these few.

Bishop joined the fun and decided to race also. So we saw both of them passing by several times. The kids and I had fun playing with our awesome neighbors while waiting for the men to finish!

Chad on the bike portion. I was trying to get a good position for his bike finish and some guy yelled at me and made me missed it. What a punk!

And it's finally over!! yeah! It was fun, but harder than normal due to lack of training!

Thanks for being such a good example of fun, competition, and good health for the kids. Even if you don't train you still can do it! You're awesome Daddy!

June Update

Here are a few things we did in June!

Daddy Dinner #5
For my birthday present this year Chad decided to give me 52 weeks of one meal a week. That means he cooks dinner at least once a week for a year! So far he is doing pretty well. Mostly it's been dinners, but he had one breakfast in there. It has all been really good. And Chad is finding his niche with cooking. He really likes it.

Daddy Dinner #4
Fun pictures by Broc. That would be Uncle Lukey's butt! hehe
A fun day at Chuck E. Cheese with the In-laws
A common occurence at my house!
My little music buddy! Brighton loves to play piano and sing songs with me. She is always having to sit right next to me when I play. Or on me, like this time.

Catching up for May

Our first batch of strawberries were fresh and ready to go! oh soo yummy! There is nothing like home grown strawberries.

This was Bailey's final hairstyle for her dance recital. I finally broke down a bought a tiny curling iron and it worked great! I really liked how it turned out.

While I was working on the playground I let the kids run around and take some pictures. They actually did a pretty good job on some of them. Broc took a lot of them, but they did take turns. Bailey took a lot of pictures of the sky which turned out to be all blue or all white because of the sun. They LOVE taking pictures.

T-Ball season has started. Chad is the assistant coach for Broc's team. Although coaching a bunch of rowdy and crazy 5-6 year olds is tough, he still enjoys it. Broc LOVES baseball. I think we have found his niche. He LOVES it! He cries whenever we have to stop playing.

Broc had kindergarten graduation. SERIOUSLY cute stuff. They had the kids dancing and singing all over the place. I took video with our regular camera so I don't know how to get it off of there. I'm sure it can be done, but I have no idea. So for now you'll just have to enjoy the pictures. Broc did a really good job and it was really put together very well. Thanks Mrs. Dimmick for a great year!! Can't wait until FIRST GRADE! All day for Broc! Yikes!

On May 8th, Broc's class went on a field trip to the zoo. I was able to go because Chad watched the girls! (Thanks DADDY!) It was really fun seeing how much they loved the zoo. It was a pretty quick trip because of the long drive and being home in time for school to let out, but it was really fun still. The boys were dying to see the ELEPHANTS the entire time and I made them wait until after the train and lunch. They were a little ticked. Then when we got there, the other little boy looked for about 10 seconds and was ready to move on. All that for 10 seconds! Come on!

This is what we really look like...

This was my latest conversation with Bailey:

Bailey: Do mommy's and daddy's cry?
Me: Sometimes they do.
Bailey: Yeah, like only when they are up front talking in church.

This makes me think of this post by my friend about her kids having the same opinion of church and adults.
